The Juice Bin

Hi, my name's Shelley, and I'm the owner and creator of The Juice Bin.

The Juice Bin is a reflection of where I grew up, my passions, and my university studies.

I grew up in the agricultural fruit bowl of Waikerie along the banks of the River Murray.I have fond memories of eating the deliciously ripe 'jam' strawberries, and fruit straight from the tree when it was perfectly ripe. The Juice Bin came about from knowing that the best fruit isn't the fruit that is picked for transport and sold in big supermarkets and that the most deliciously sweet fruit is the stuff that is usually deemed to be seconds or goes to waste. So backed with 6 years of uni studying architecture, landscape architecture, planning and urban design and a little bit of saved up cash i created The Juice Bin. The concept behind it was to celebrate and promote the most delicious local seasonal produce by creating smoothies and popsicles, whilst also promoting the local growers. The design of The Juice Bin also tells a little story, as it was created by retrofitting an orange bin trailer, while the serving counter is made from oregon used to make the irrigation channels in Waikerie.

The Juice Bin uses just planted based ingredients, as well as a little local honey.

The Juice Bin will be a regular feature at the Mount Pleasant Farmers Markets up until Easter, 2016.

Yummy Veggies

Yummy Veggies is the new delicious appealing and tantalisingly tempting.

It is owned by local couple Diana and Eugeniu whose emphasis is to present fresh and nutritional marinated vegetables served with outstanding flavour and taste. Great details are taken in the preparation of each dish. Each one is unique by having its own distinct and amazing flavour.

Diana uses her background of European cooking where food is prepared with detail, using homemade marinades, herbs and spices to accentuate flavour. Vegetables can be eaten alone, or added to wraps, rolls and sandwiches. They can be served as a side dish to compliment any meal.

They are a young couple who have lived in Murray Bridge for over three years. Diana has a passion to cook and it must be perfect. Eugeniu searches for the best and freshest produce available and supports local businesses and growers as much as he can. For them to have this opportunity is a privilege and something they both love. They are excited to live in Australia and to commence their “Yummy Veggies” business, is a fulfilment of a dream.

They welcome and invite you to meet them. They offer free samples of all prepared dishes. Come and meet them but be prepared for a taste sensation that you will enjoy very much.

Homestead Lovers

Joy White grew up in the North West of Western Australia and even though she had a passion for experimental cooking from an early age, fresh ingredients were never an option with most produce arriving by freezer truck after an 1800km journey.
So when she moved to South Australia around 4 years ago she fell in love with the abundance of fresh produce available.
Meeting new friends who generously gave her excess fresh fruit and vegetables from their gardens and even growing some herself, she found that she would end up with a lot of wastage especially that it is just Joy and her partner she was feeding, she came up with ways to naturally preserve products and even using 95% of the product eliminating wastage.
So she started using the worlds oldest food preserving method, dehydration, then began to experiment with ways to put her dehydrated goodies into meals, snacks, condiments and use in food, beauty and other practical recipes.
The best things about her dehydrated and powdered products is not only eliminating wastage by preserving excess crops but off season food is available all year round and it contains zero additives or preservatives.
Joy has a wealth of knowledge on recipes and uses for her products and is committed to using fresh produce from the Mount Pleasant Farmers Market and other fresh produce providers in the Murraylands and Barossa.
