WE NEED YOU!
Help keep our new Farmers Market running & Volunteer a few hours this year.
VOLUNTEER POSITIONS
The Mount Pleasant Farmers Market is run every Saturday from 8am – 12 noon at the Showgrounds in Mount Pleasant. This is a community run and managed project, and volunteers are a key ingredient for its success. Get involved and meet new people, whilst supporting a fantastic community project that brings local farm fresh produce direct to the customer.
All volunteer positions allow you to be involved in and enjoy the Market and are run on a volunteer roster system: you can commit to helping for one Market or even all of them – its up to you. Fill out the roster sheet overleaf, letting us know which job you would like to help with and on what days, or have a chat to us at the Info and Membership stall on market days. Training, inductions and insurance is provided for all volunteers. If you want to help but can only offer your assistance for an hour rather than 2, we would still love to hear from you.
All volunteers will receive a guest Farmers Market membership that will entitle them to 10% off all stalls on the day they volunteer.
Gate Attendants (2 hours)
At each Farmers Market, volunteers are needed to greet visitors and ask if they would like to give an optional gold coin donation (from vehicles entering the site for the purposes of the Farmers Market). Vehicles that produce a valid Mount Pleasant Farmers Market Membership receive free entry. Vehicles entering the site for other purposes (e.g. to access the caravan park) also receive free entry. You may also be required to verbally direct people to the nominated car parking areas. Where possible, volunteers will be paired at each gate so you wont be working alone, and you will have the option of manning the gate from either 7:50am – 10am or from 10am – 11:50am (if you are really keen you can stay on the gate for the full 4 hours!). You will be provided with a collection can, high visibility vest, and a name tag identifying you as an official Farmers Market volunteer.
Information and Membership Officers (2 hours)
This position involves helping to look after the official Mount Pleasant Farmers Market Information and Membership stand. The role includes providing information on the market, the membership scheme, volunteer opportunities and other general enquiries. You will provide assistance to new and potential members, including signing up new members and issuing member packs. Sales of official Farmers Market merchandise will also be provided at this stall (bags, aprons etc). Confidence with cash handling is required. A great position for meeting other volunteers and having a chat with stallholders and customers. Where possible, volunteers will be paired so you wont be working alone, and you have the option of manning the info stall from either 8am – 10am or from 10am – 12noon (or even the full 4 hours if you like!).
